Coach Ginge

Privacy, in plain words

Privacy

The short version: this site sets no cookies, runs no analytics and collects nothing about you. We never collect anything about the children who watch Coach Ginge. Our one Google app only reads our own YouTube channel's statistics.

This website

Nothing to track you. coachginge.com has no cookies, no analytics, no advertising and no sign-up. Its pictures, fonts and code all come from this site itself, so visiting it sends nothing to anyone else.

Hosting. The site is hosted by Netlify. Like any web host, Netlify receives the technical details every browser sends to fetch a page, such as your IP address. We don't use them to track you or count you. Netlify's privacy policy covers how Netlify handles them.

The videos on this site. They load from YouTube only when you press play, and then in YouTube's privacy-enhanced mode (youtube-nocookie.com). Until you press play, nothing loads from YouTube at all.

Downloads. The teacher cards and the Golden Paw award are plain PDF files. You download them straight from this site, with nothing to fill in.

Links to other sites. Some links go to YouTube, Instagram, Pinterest, Teachers Pay Teachers and my studio's blog. Once you follow one, that site's own privacy policy applies.

Tom's Golden Feather Hunt. The class competition on its own page is the one place where you can give us any details. Entries go through a form run by Tally, not through this site: a grown-up's name, email address, class or family name, town and country, and the answers. We use them only to run the competition, and they're deleted by 31 January 2027. If you tick the separate box to hear from Coach Ginge, we keep your name and email for that until you ask us to stop. Children never enter. The full rules are on the competition page.

If you email us, we use your email only to reply to you.

The videos

Coach Ginge's videos are on YouTube and are marked made for kids. For videos made for kids, YouTube turns off comments and personalised ads.

We don't collect children's data. No child ever gives us anything, and we never ask them to. Watching happens on YouTube, so Google's privacy policy applies to it, and YouTube decides what it collects.

YouTube shows us only totals for our own channel, such as how many views a video had, how long people watched it, and which countries and devices the views came from. These totals never tell us who watched.

Coach Ginge HQ

Coach Ginge HQ is our private, behind-the-scenes dashboard, and it's the only Google app we use. It's used only by the people who run the Coach Ginge channel, to read that channel's own statistics. The only Google account that signs in to it is the one that owns the Coach Ginge YouTube channel. It reads one channel only: it refuses to save a login for any other.

What it asks Google for. Two read-only permissions: to see the channel's YouTube account (YouTube Data API, youtube.readonly) and to see YouTube Analytics reports for its videos (YouTube Analytics API, yt-analytics.readonly). Read-only means it cannot upload, change or delete anything, and it can't comment or post.

What it reads from the YouTube Data API: the signed-in channel's ID and name, to check that it's Coach Ginge's; the channel's public totals (subscribers, views and number of videos); its list of uploaded videos, with their titles and dates; each video's public view and like counts; and the titles of public videos that send viewers to ours.

What it reads from the YouTube Analytics API: the channel's own reports, per video and per day. These cover views, watch time, how long people watch and where they stop, likes, shares, subscribers gained and lost, and where the views came from (search terms, suggested videos, other websites, devices, countries, and YouTube or YouTube Kids). These are totals: they never name or identify a viewer.

Where it's kept. The pull runs on our own computer. The login Google gives it is kept in a private file on that computer and is never published or shared. The statistics are saved in our private GitHub repository and shown on our private dashboard, hosted by Netlify, which only signed-in members of our team can open. We keep them as the history of the channel.

How it's used. Only to see how our videos are doing and decide what to make next. We read the numbers ourselves, sometimes with the help of AI assistants working in that private repository.

Not sold, not shared. We don't sell, rent or share this data with anyone, and we don't use it for advertising of any kind. GitHub and Netlify store it for us only as our hosting providers.

Google's rules. Coach Ginge HQ's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

Removing its access. The channel's owner can stop Coach Ginge HQ at any time: open your Google Account, go to Security, then Your connections to third-party apps & services, choose Coach Ginge HQ and remove its access. It can't read anything after that. The statistics already saved stay in our private records; email us if you'd like them deleted.
